Allie Biswas is a writer and editor. She was born in Scarborough, England, and studied at King’s College London and Birkbeck, University of London. In 2021, she coedited The “Soul of a Nation” Reader: Writings by and about Black American Artists, 1960–1980. Between 2015 and 2019, Biswas published long-form interviews in the Brooklyn Rail with artists including Rashid Johnson, Julie Mehretu, Meleko Mokgosi, Zanele Muholi, Adam Pendleton, and Wolfgang Tillmans. Most recently, she has written profiles on Garrett Bradley, Lubna Chowdhury, and Theaster Gates for frieze and contributed texts to Portia Zvavahera (David Zwirner), Strange Clay: Ceramics in Contemporary Art (Hayward Gallery), Frank Bowling: Sculpture (Ridinghouse), and With the End in Mind: Reginald Sylvester II (InOtherWords). Forthcoming publications include a catalogue of the United States Embassy’s art collection in London.
